A Little Bit About Me!

Brief

Background

After high school I attended and received my undergraduate degree in The Social Sciences with a minor in Physial Education.  I wanted and did get a job in Social Work, working at St. Mary's Home for Boys for two years.  I truly enjoyed working with the youth, but wanted to further my education and have my very own classroom.

I now attend Concordia University in Portland, OR, working towards my Masters of Arts in Teaching early childhood/elementary education.

Recreational

and Family

In high school and college I played baseball and did play some semi-pro baseball after college.  I also played basketball, soccer, and football in high school.
I have always enjoyed playing golf, tennis, raquetball, and now softball.
I also love going to the beach with my wonderful family, on sunny days of course.  I also hike quite often throughout the state of Oregon.  I enjoy camping with friends and family- overall, I love being outdoors and prefer to be outside at all times.  For good hikes, after school activities, and recreation ideas go to THPRD.

My wonderful wife and I have been married for 8 years and have been blessed with a son.  He is our pride and joy and is a miracle child.  We love him dearly.

Why Education?

As a teenage youth I knew that I wanted to effect youngsters lives in a postive way (for ways to effect lives in a positive way click on this link to Love and Logic) .  Becoming an uncle and being a father figure to my three nephews, I was aware of the importance of having positive, influential people in every child's life- and I wanted to be that person for as many children as possible.  Having my son also had an enormous impact on me deciding to go back to school to become a teacher.  I want to set a great example for him that helping people, and your community, is the right thing to do.    What better of a profession is there where you have that opportunity?

I enjoy helping youth in a structured, fair but firm environment.  Structure and orginization are two very important ideas that youth need to provide a base for their success in being a productive community member in their future.
